Keeping It Personal

Here is a fun way to help guests keep track of their holiday beverages: Paint small patches of latex blackboard paint (1824-105) on inexpensive wine glasses (4256-450), coffee mugs (4250-994/893) and any other receptacle that inspires your creativity. The paint comes in pre-mixed black, but it also can be tinted into beautiful colours. Soap and water clean up.

STEP-BY-STEP

1. Simply determine the area you want to paint, mask it off with tape (1670-089).

2. Brush on with a polyester brush (5712-142). Multiple coats may be required.

3. Remove tape. Let it dry for 7 days before using chalk on it. To remove the tape, use Goof Off (4522-378). (Not recommended on plastic)

Word Play

Make a seasonal statement with wall art that celebrates the essence of the holidays.

STEP-BY-STEP

1. Craft the form from 2” rigid foam insulation cut into 20” squares using a saw to ensure a clean sharp edge.

2. Prime with Acryl-lok (1850-241).

3. Paint desired base colour with Beauti-Tone Paint. (We used black 1835-447 white 1835-394)

4. Decide on a simple phrase and pick your favourite font on the computer. Use a photocopier to enlarge to the size you need.

5. Trace the letters on boards using carbon paper. Paint letters desired colour.

6. To hang: Use self leveling hangers (2352-554). Mark their position, then dip nails in white glue and attach the hanger to back of foam. Let dry.
